How to Apply

Our application process is designed to give us a sense of who you are, what drives you and why UCCS College of Business is the right place for you. We recommend becoming familiar with what is required for each section of the application. You’ll find information and key resources below to help you prepare, navigate and successfully complete your application.

Preparing to Apply

Flexible MBA: A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in business or a business-adjacent BS degree that includes the following mandatory coursework: accounting, finance, management, marketing, and quantitative methods. It is required that you have earned your BS degree from a regionally accredited college or university by the time of matriculation to apply. For more information on admission requirements, see Step 2 in the Steps to Complete the UCCS MBA Application below.

Specialized or Traditional MBAs: A bachelor’s or equivalent degree from a regionally accredited college or university by the time of matriculation is required to apply. For more information on admission requirements, see Step 2 in the Steps to Complete the UCCS MBA Application below.

Graduate students are expected to write clearly and concisely with correct punctuation and grammar. You will also be expected to have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. If a student is deficient in any of these skills, it is their responsibility to mitigate the deficiency before enrolling in the program.

On this site you will find details about general financial aid information, scholarships, FAFSA, loan information, and student employment opportunities. If you are interested in a scholarship, these are awarded based on academic achievement, financial need, or a combination of the two. To apply for scholarships, you must first sign in with the same username and password you use to access the myUCCS portal.

Steps to Complete the UCCS MBA Application

We encourage applicants to submit the application early in the process so that we can maintain contact and keep the line of communication open.  
 

Select the MBA Option

  • Flexible MBA (BS BUS required)
  • Specialized MBA (36cr)
  • Traditional MBA (30cr)

Please note, if you indicate that you are a Colorado resident you will have to complete and upload this Tuition Classification form. It can be downloaded from within the application but can also be downloaded beforehand. $60 non-refundable application fee. 

Pathway 1: GPA 3.0* or above for an undergraduate or graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Pathway 2: GPA less than 3.0** for an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution, and at least one of the following:

  • Submit a resume demonstrating 3+ years of relevant professional work experience and/or military experience; or
  • Meet the minimum GMAT or GRE test scores; or
  • Minimum 9 semester hours of relevant graduate course work at a regionally accredited institution with 3.0 GPA or higher; or
  • A holistic essay stating your graduate school goals and demonstrating your commitment and perseverance to successfully complete the program (this option will go to committee review no matter your GPA)

 

*Cumulative GPA or GPA for last 60 credit hours, whichever is higher.

**Your application will go through committee review if your GPA is under 2.75. 

We accept electronic transcripts sent from the Registrar's Office at your college or university. Please note that these transcripts must be sent in a secure format, directly by the University Registrar or their designated delivery service directly to ugapp@uccs.edu. We cannot accept electronic transcripts sent as attachments in emails from applicants.

We also accept sealed, original transcripts from every college or university attended. Bachelor's degrees must be from regionally accredited four-year colleges or universities. Applicants with any foreign post-secondary course work should also submit a course-by-course with GPA evaluation by a NACES or AICE member.

Although we do not require applicants to have a minimum amount of work experience, you will need to submit a current resume. Students in our programs have extremely diverse backgrounds regarding an undergraduate major, work history, and life experiences', which allows for a variety of perspectives and unique discussions in the classroom. You will upload your current resume in the application process.

Although we do not require applicants to submit letters of recommendation, there is a place within the application to upload your letters.

Official Transcripts
We require transcripts from every collegiate institution attended during and after graduation from high school. In addition, applicants with any foreign college coursework are required to submit a course-by-course with GPA foreign degree evaluation by a NACES or AICE member. (Please Note: Official evaluations received directly from SpanTranWorld Education Services Inc. (WES), and Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) credential agencies may enable more efficient review and processing of transfer credit by the Graduate School of Business Administration). This includes any coursework being considered for foundation waiver or equivalency consideration.

All applicants whose native language is not English must meet a minimum standard of English proficiency. It is expected that students understand how to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to be successful in the Graduate School of Business Administration. Click here for more information.

We have limited space in our classrooms, and they fill up quickly. Our deadlines allow plenty of time to get your application processed before the start of the semester to which you are applying. The sooner you submit your application, the faster you can start the path of furthering your education. Therefore, it is in your best interest to complete and submit applications before the priority deadlines. (Note: Many scholarships have a March 1st deadline, so we encourage you to apply very early if scholarships are part of your plans for financing your degree.)
