Extended Studies is a way to offer courses in a non-traditional way in a variety of subject areas. Coursework is provided for those wanting to learn a new skill or update current skills. Also provided are workshops to expand your knowledge on operating a small business and other professionally relevant topics. These courses are available to the general public, depending on the program, throughout the year. Extended Studies include a variety of coursework for credit or not for credit. The Center for Entrepreneurship is an innovative education environment established by the College of Business. The Center provides courses available to students and those in the community desiring to take courses in the information systems or entrepreneurship arena.
The Small Business Development Center of Colorado Springs is a nonprofit organization that provides free counseling and education to small and medium sized businesses in El Paso and Teller Counties. It is partially funded by SBA and hosted by the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Other funding sources include Pikes Peak Community College and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs offers students a Certificate in American Business Studies (CABS). The Certificate in American Business Studies is designed to provide international students an opportunity to study at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for a one-semester period. The College of Business assists students in designing a program that fits with the degree requirements at his or her home University. CABS is designed to offer a quality educational experience for serious students while maintaining a degree of flexibility for international students. The College offers a rigorous academic program over a sixteen-week semester starting in late August (fall) or mid-January (spring). The program allows international students the opportunity to learn and study with an outstanding and highly recognized faculty.
Prospective CABS students will be sent a diverse list of available courses from which they can choose, and the College of Business will handle all registration and visa issues. In general, students enrolled in the Certificate in American Business Studies are eligible to take upper-level courses (numbered 300 and 400) related to the study of business. Upon successful completion of the semester-long academic program, students earn a certificate verifying completion of the American Business Studies curriculum.
