A Worksheet for Associate of Arts Degree (Business) Transfers

This page is intended for students attending Colorado Community Colleges with plans to complete the Associate of Arts degree (Business Option) and transfer to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. This worksheet outlines how Colorado Community College courses will fit with the Bachelor of Science (Business) at CU-Colorado Springs.

Criteria For Admission - Students who wish to transfer to the College of Business from another degree program at UCCS may submit an application in the Students Success Center upon completion of at least 15 semester hours of graded work. Students must have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Students with a cumulative GPA between 2.0 and 2.5 will require review by the Business Advisor to be considered for admission.

Students are encouraged to complete the freshman English and at least one required math course as early as possible.

Residency Requirement - Interested students should transfer as early as possible to be sure they are able to take a minimum 30 hours of business course work after they are admitted (residency requirement). Students should take 18 hours in one Area of Emphasis, BUAD 400 & BUAD 450 after admission to the College of Business.

Catalog - A student's business program/catalog year is the one in effect at the time the student is admitted to UCCS College of Business (BUPR) or to LAS (PRBU). Transfer students from Colorado Community Colleges may follow the graduation requirements in effect during the academic year the student began their study at the community college if they complete the AA Business (restrictions apply, please see UCCS Student Success Center).  All others are evaluated on a case by case basis

Transfer Process - After you have met the admissions criteria, you may complete an Intra-University Transfer Application with an Academic Advisor in the Student Success Center, Main Hall 2nd floor.  The application will be given to the Business Advisor for processing.

Other Options to Consider for Business Coursework

  1. Supplement your major with a business minor. Minor coursework is 18-24 credit hours. Applications for minors in Marketing and International Business are now considered on a competitive basis. To apply for a minor in Marketing or International Business, submit this online form. If you are interested in other business minors, you should contact Glenn Steimling.
  2. Complete your non-business undergraduate degree and then apply for  admission to the MBA program.  Remember, admission requirements to the MBA program include a strong undergraduate GPA and strong math and English skills. Foundation courses can be taken at the undergraduate level (see MBA Advising for detailed information).

Students who wish to transfer to the College of Business from another degree program at CU-Colorado Springs, may submit an application in the Student Success Center upon completion of at least 15 semester hours of graded work on campus. Students must demonstrate proficiency in English and math by completing freshman English and at least one required math course.
