College of Business Faculty & Staff Awards
Welcome to this year's College of Business Faculty & Staff Awards. Your continued hard work and dedication to the College of Business makes it difficult to chose award recipients year after year - I thank you for your dedication.
It is our tradition to share the accomplishments of our award winners together over food and drinks, however, due to current event guidelines, we had to change our approach in how we celebrate. Although it is unfortunate that we cannot all be together, please take the time to review the 2020 award winners. The event was also live-streamed for those who were unable to attend.
Let us continue to celebrate and recognize the hard work of our faculty and staff no matter the environment in which we currently find ourselves.
Please join me in congratulating the 2020 College of Business Award Winners!
Warmest Regards,
Karen S. Markel, Ph.D.
Dean, UCCS College of Business
AABY AWARD
The AABY award was initiated as a tribute to Dr. Nils-Erik Aaby whose infectious good humor made the College of Business a better place to work. The AABY award is presented to the member of the faculty or staff whose demonstrated attitudes and personal behaviors have helped to reinforce an environment of collegiality within the COB. This award may be based upon the past year or the lifetime contributions of the recipient.
50 Years of Teaching Award
There are few times that a College has the opportunity to recognize someone for 50 years of teaching and service to one university. Don has been an integral member of the College of Business team since 1971, and for over five decades he has made a lasting impact on our students, our campus, and our community.
Don has spent his career developing and coaching leaders, developing high-performance teams and organizations, and managing organization development, change, and transformation. He has published nine books and more than 90 articles, book chapters, and professional papers within his discipline. Don has worked with more than 200 Fortune 500 and international companies, mid-sized and small organizations, government agencies, and religious organizations. He also serves as president of the Warrick Agency Training and Development Company.
He has been celebrated with the highest recognitions in his field, including a 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Organization Development Network Association and the Distinguished Educator Award from the Academy of Management. He has also been named Outstanding Organization Development Practitioner of the Year, Outstanding Human Resources Professional of the Year, Best Professor in Organizational Development, and David Bradford/McGraw-Hill Educator of the Year.
Over the past five decades, Don has taught more than 10,000 students in his graduate and undergraduate Leadership and Organization Development and Change classes. In fact, almost every single student in the MBA program has been exposed to his knowledge and philosophies about excellent leadership and building healthy, high-performance organizations.
It is a tremendous accomplishment to serve a university and community as Dr. Warrick has throughout the years. Don, your dedication to education and to our students is truly inspiring.
Congratulations on 50 incredible years!
