The Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is an excellent choice for those with an undergraduate degree in accounting or business who want to pursue licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

The MSA helps graduates develop a deep knowledge of high-level accounting practices and will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to have successful careers in accounting. This 30-credit hour program, together with a student’s undergraduate degree in accounting, is designed to satisfy the 150-credit hour requirement for licensure in Colorado and most other states.

Like all business degrees offered at UCCS, this program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). This prestigious accreditation is your assurance that you are attending a quality program, taught by well-qualified faculty, and with a commitment to student success and continuous improvement.

Additionally, UCCS placed its third consecutive year as a top 10 Military Friendly School in the 2023 rankings, ranking 3rd among all large public institutions.

Focus of Study

The MSA provides in-depth knowledge of accounting, taxation, and auditing. Whether you want to expand your career as an external auditor in public accounting, an internal auditor in private accounting, a government auditor, or a tax consultant, you will be rewarded with excellence in your faculty, curriculum, and fellow students. Our 30-credit hour MSA program consists of 18 credit hours of accounting coursework and 12 credit hours of business electives.

Flexible Scheduling

The UCCS MSA program is a 30-credit, hybrid graduate accounting program that combines in-person and online learning to provide students with optimal flexibility.  Students who cannot meet in person for the on-campus accounting courses may attend the course remotely (synchronously).  All on-campus classes are offered in the evening hours from 4:45 pm to 7:20 pm or 7:30 pm to 10:05 pm.

Students can elect to enroll in online business electives. The combination of campus, remote synchronous, and online provides flexibility to students who are also busy working professionals.
