COB Connection - March 2020

The COB Connection

Greetings Faculty and Staff of the College of Business,

The COVID-19 situation has evolved rapidly at UCCS over the past week. There are currently no positive cases of the coronavirus from UCCS at this time, however, a few members of the campus community did have direct contact with a COVID-19 laboratory-confirmed case. These individuals were on campus last week.

For the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community, UCCS announced a full transition to remote learning and remote work starting Monday, March 16. As of today, this status will be extended to the end of the Spring 2020 semester. To recap, this means there will be no on-campus meetings or classes and all essential College of Business faculty and staff will operate remotely. UCCS also worked tirelessly to bring our students on international study abroad and internships programs back to the U.S. We are happy to announce that all five of our students interning in the U.K. have returned home and our study abroad students who elected to return have made it home safely.

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we work to keep the campus community safe. I understand these are difficult times, but I am confident that together we will overcome these hardships and continue to offer excellent educational offerings and services to our students.

Should you need support during this time of transition, please utilize the following resources:

  • IT: COBIT is available for technical support from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Please email cobit@uccs.edu if you need assistance.
  • Online Learning Platforms: Please contact Tracy Parks for Canvas and Microsoft Teams support at tparks@uccs.edu.

On a lighter note, I am pleased to welcome Pamela Preston as the new Executive Assistant to the Dean. Pamela currently serves as our Program Specialist for OPED and she brings tremendous administrative and event planning experience to this position. Pamela will move into her new role on April 1st. A special thank you to Katie Burns, Jeanette Dias, and Meghan Stidd for serving on the search committee.

Thank you again for your hard work and resiliency during this trying time.

Best Regards,

Eric Olson, Interim Dean
