About the College of Business

A Message from the Interim Dean

Welcome to the UCCS College of Business. As interim dean, I am honored to lead a college committed to delivering forward-thinking, AACSB-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare learners for today’s dynamic business environment. Our programs are grounded in relevance, innovation, and a deep connection to industry practice.

We are expanding how we serve students and professionals at every stage of their careers. In addition to our established degree programs, we are proud to introduce the MBA Flex pathway, designed for undergraduate business and business-adjacent graduates seeking to efficiently build specialized expertise at the graduate level. We have collaborated with colleges across the university to offer an Accelerated Masters Pathways to the MBA to reduce undergraduate students’ costs and time to earn a graduate degree. In partnership with the El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization (EPIIC), the college supports the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp for Veterans, Spark the Springs, and the EPIIC Venture Attractor, all of which are designed to transform innovative ideas into economic opportunities and strengthen the local startup ecosystem. Finally, through initiatives like COB Academy, we are also strengthening our commitment to lifelong learning by offering accessible, skills-focused non-credit opportunities that support career growth, upskilling, reskilling, and professional advancement.

Our curriculum integrates emerging technologies and emphasizes critical thinking, adaptability, and ethical leadership. Across all programs, we provide opportunities for credentialing and digital badging, ensuring learners can clearly demonstrate their competencies in an evolving workforce. We remain dedicated to building not only knowledge, but also confidence and real-world readiness.

Our faculty bring a powerful combination of scholarly expertise and industry experience. They are deeply committed to high-quality teaching and impactful research that informs practice and advances business knowledge. Their work reinforces our focus on principled, ethical decision-making and meaningful contributions to our communities.

Experiential learning remains central to the student experience. Through programs like ROAR, students engage in internships, networking, student organizations, and partnerships with regional and global businesses. These experiences prepare our graduates to lead, collaborate, and make an immediate impact in their professions.

At the UCCS College of Business, we are proud to support learners across the full continuum of their educational and professional journeys. We strive to be a hub for innovation, collaboration, and responsible leadership. I invite you to join us as we shape the future of business together.

Warm regards,
Dr. Bri Newland
Interim Dean, UCCS College of Business
