Myth: I need to be at the event for the entire time.

Fact: You are free to come and go anytime during the event. Have class until 7:20? No problem! We will be in Berger Hall until 8:00. Only able to attend the event for the first hour? Great! We are happy to have you for any amount of time between 6:00-8:00pm. 

Myth: I should only attend if I need a job/internship.

Fact: Career Networking Night is about building relationships. If you are not currently in the market for a job or internship, we still highly recommended that you attend to expand your professional network. You never know what opportunities or connections you may make at Career Networking Night that will help with your future!

Myth: The event is only for juniors and seniors.

Fact: Career Networking Night is open to all students from freshmen to MBA/MSA students and alumni! Our employers have opportunities for everyone. Career Networking Night is also a great opportunity to learn about a wide variety of industries, ask business professionals about their careers and experiences, and determine what career pathways may be the best fit for you. Students at all levels can benefit from this event! 

Myth: I should only talk to organizations seeking students in my area of emphasis.

Fact: Colorado Springs has a very tight-knit business community. We encourage you to talk to all employers even if they may be outside of your desired industry. Our employers have many connections and may be able to refer you to a friend or colleague that would be a great fit for you and your professional goals. Keep an open mind and talk to as many organizations as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Career Networking Night is FREE for all UCCS students and alumni! 

Typically, there are about 60 private, non-profit, and government sector employers that attend, along with various other organizations that work with students.

Students are encouraged to use this time as a networking event; to learn about industries, organizations, and representatives from the organizations. You may bring resumes or just business cards (the Career Development Center will have some ready to fill out at the event). Organizations are welcome to have their own sign-in/opt-in contact lists for students as well.

Career Networking Night is currently held in Berger Hall, on the second floor of the University Center.

Doors are open to students from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Typically, registration for students will officially close at 11:59 p.m. the night prior to the event, however, walk-ins are welcome!

Attire for Career Networking Night is business casual or business professional. Some students will be in a full suit, but it is not required. If you do not have professional attire, the campus Career Center maintains a closet with professional clothing available to students free of charge.

Absolutely! The Career Development Center provides a heavy hors d'oeuvres buffet for employers and students!
