Many students start college with a major in mind. But many more students aren't so sure.
For the College of Business, the degree and the major is predetermined. Students are pursuing the Bachelor of Science with a major in business or the Bachelor of Innovation with a major in business administration.
Business students start taking business courses right away in their degree plan, but the first courses in the program are skills courses that provide a business foundation. The core business courses begin the junior year, allowing students ample time and exposure to the varying business disciplines to choose their specialization.
Students interested in our PGA Golf Management program and our Sport Management programs are required to be admitted directly into those programs and those programs are cohort programs that begin in the first semester of enrollment.
Yes - there is no limit to the number of emphases that a student can do; but it can add more time and credit hours to your degree.
Students pursuing business as a major and students who are pursuing majors outside the College of Business can minor in business.

New students are required to attend an orientation where they learn about UCCS, the College of Business, their degree program, how any credits from previous academic work are applying towards their degree and how and what to register for in their first semester. Each student is assigned an academic advisor who helps students pick classes. Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor on a regular basis (at least once a year) to ensure that they are taking the right classes for their degree and their degree progress.
Students who are not admissible to the College of Business may be admitted to the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences in the university studies program with a business intent option. Those admitted as Intent Students will take the same lower-division courses as those admitted to the College of Business.
A business intent student is eligible to transfer into the College of Business once 15 hours of coursework has been completed at UCCS with at least a B average and a C or better in ENGL 1310 and at least one college level math course (College Algebra or higher) passed with a C or better.
On average, around 73% of UCCS college of business students are employed within 6 months after graduation. There are numerous resources on campus that are available for students to use when searching for employment after graduation. They can also help you with applying for internships while you are going to school. This is a great way to get your "foot-in-the-door" and get experience prior to graduating. UCCS also partners with many different organizations and companies that seek UCCS graduates as potential new employees fresh out of college.
