About the Program

The UCCS Sport Management program partnered with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, a Denver-based sports and entertainment holding company that is the national conglomerate of numerous sporting brands and venues throughout Colorado. This partnership provides exciting professional opportunities for sport management students to work with teams like the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids through semester long student-directed study projects. These sport-related research projects involve ongoing support and frequent meetings from representatives of Colorado's biggest professional sports organizations.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment is one of the world's largest and most successful ownership, entertainment and marketing groups in the nation. They are owners of the Ball Arena, Paramount Theatre, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Colorado Mammoth (NLL) and Colorado Rapids (MLS), making them an ideal partner and supporter for students pursuing a career in the business of sports.

There is no better place to develop your business skills and sports networking connections than the Sport Management program at UCCS.

Benefits to Students

  1. Connections and relationships are built through networking with the top sports organizations in Colorado.
  2. Multiple career pathways are created as students are able to get real world experience with some of the most high profile professional sports teams in the region before they graduate college.
  3. Unlike unstructured internships, the KSE partnership gives students work experience that is tailored to their specific interests and skill sets that prepare them for their professional careers.
  4. A student presentation is conducted at the end of the semester allowing students to display the findings of their research project and market themselves to their potential future employers.

“Our partnership with the UCCS Sport Management program puts us in direct contact with the top talent in the sport industry. Students receive one-on-one attention from industry executives while helping to research and strengthen three of Colorado’s largest professional franchises. It’s an excellent opportunity for students to network with leaders in their field and for us to identify exceptional young professionals for potential careers upon graduation.”
Patrick Miller
UCCS Sport Management Student
“I was able to present my findings to everyone. So KSE, as a whole, got to kind of see what I was doing. And being a senior, that actually works really well because I’m in the market for a job, so I was able to show them that I’m capable of doing some of the things they do. That’s why I really appreciate the internship.”
