What is your background? What is your background?
I am a proud Colorado Springs native. I attended Colorado Springs Christian School from preschool to twelfth grade, where I received a fantastic education and met and grew up with life-long friends. Growing up, I was very involved in sports, playing soccer, basketball, inline hockey, and wrestling. Early on, I took a liking to soccer and stuck with it. Soccer taught me hard work, teamwork, leadership skills, and how to deal with life situations. Through soccer, I used my ability to positively impact communities, locally and internationally. I was also raised to be very involved in the church. My family attended Pulpit Rock Church for many years where I participated in many community activities. I attended college in Southern California for 3 semesters before transferring to UCCS, where I graduated with a degree in business. I decided to continue my education and get my master’s degree in accounting from UCCS. I anticipate graduating with my master’s degree in summer of 2018. I met my wife a year and a half ago at in a UCCS business class, got married in September of 2016, and have been enjoying living life together. We look forward to traveling together in the coming years.

How would you describe your experience as a student in the MSA program? How would you describe your experience as a student in the MSA program?
The MSA program was a challenge. The professors pushed me to be the best I can be. Being challenged, pushed, and prodded, allowed me to grow in my understanding and passion for accounting. The professors brought a wide and expansive perspective which excites and motivates me to make a difference. My passion for accounting started in my undergraduate studies and has only enhanced as I’ve pursued my MSA degree.

What would you tell other professionals if they asked you about pursuing an MSA?What would you tell other professionals if they asked you about pursuing an MSA?
Do it – you will not regret it! Accounting is a very academic profession and pursing an MSA will greatly benefit any young professional. Even if they don’t go into the accounting profession, having an expansive knowledge of accounting is highly sought after in all businesses. Additionally, getting to know the professors and the smaller number of students in a more intimate setting is very beneficial in developing a strong network. People who might have been acquaintances as an undergraduate, quickly become friends pursuing the same goal.
