Grants & Scholarships

Scholarships are classified as gifts and do not need to be repaid. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, or a combination of the two.  You will find the listing of scholarships available to students with brief information about the scholarship qualifications on the Scholarship Portal. To apply for scholarships, you must first sign in with the same user name and password you use to access the myUCCS portal.

Academic Year 2022-2023

Graduate School Tuition Grant

The purpose of this tuition grant is to match stipends given to students for work related to the educational program.  Students must receive from their program/college/school a teaching assistantship, research assistantship, or funding related to service/internship directly related to the educational program.  Students must be regularly admitted with at least a 3.0 GPA and enrolled in 6 or more credit hours each semester.  Students on provisional admission are not eligible.  Tuition grants may only be used for tuition and are for fall and spring semesters (one academic year).

Distribution of Tuition Grant:

Awards to new students and nonresidents will be prioritized.
Awards are for 1 year.
Awards will be given to colleges/schools to distribute
Awards are $2,000 or $4,000 for the academic year split between the fall and spring semesters.  
 

For graduate students in the College of Business, contact Grad Office at GSBA@uccs.edu if you are interested in working for a department within the College of Business in a position that may qualify you for this matching grant.  Limited positions are available each academic year.

Out-of-State Graduate Scholarship

The Graduate Out-of-State Scholarship program awards high-caliber incoming students for their first year of graduate school. Awards will be made by qualifying graduate programs to students who are paying out-of-state tuition. The award amount is $6,000 for the academic year.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

  • Graduate Student enrolled full-time (5 or more credit hours) in a UCCS graduate program.
  • First-year graduate student who has a 3.33 or greater undergraduate GPA.
  • Students must be paying full, nonresident tuition rate (students paying a reduced nonresident rate due to WRGP, military, extended studies, etc. are not eligible).
  • International students may be eligible.

Admissions application data and accompanying academic transcripts will be used to determine eligibility for this program. Once admitted, the academic department will automatically consider you for this award. Academic units may determine additional merit criteria beyond the minimum set above for awarding scholarships. There is no separate application required for students to submit.

Students should be admitted to the summer or fall 2022 semesters no later than May 1 to be considered.

Graduate Opportunity Scholarship

The Graduate Opportunity Scholarship is for students within their first year in a graduate program who bring diverse perspectives to UCCS. To qualify, students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA no later than March 1. Award amounts will vary depending on demonstrated financial need. Award amounts will vary from $5,000 to $25,000 for the academic year.

Applicants will be notified of scholarship results in April.

Mentored Doctoral Fellowship

The Graduate School Mentored Doctoral Fellowship is a competitive award sponsored by the Graduate School that supports the professional development of doctoral students from any doctoral program. Awards are for outstanding advanced (post comprehensive examination) doctoral students who are engaged in professional development activities beyond coursework (e.g., research, teaching, clinic work; practicum, etc.). The fellowship provides tuition support as well as living expenses up to $25,000. To qualify, students must have a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.5.

Applicants will be notified of scholarship results in April.

Colorado Cybersecurity Scholarship - General Application

The Colorado Cybersecurity Scholarship is awarded to new and continuing students who currently live in Colorado or who are residents of Colorado who are pursuing cybersecurity through academic or professional activities at UCCS. The scholarship gives preference to sophomore and above students who are pursuing a related certificate, undergraduate, or graduate degree. However, students with related minors or a budding interest in cybersecurity may also be considered for funding based on the scholarship application indicating concentration in cybersecurity activities (internship, research, certifications, etc.).

Award amounts vary and students must reapply for funding each year (previous awards are not automatic awards for subsequent years).

Eligible students will be notified in July.

A. Marvin Strait Scholarship

Distribution from the fund will be used to provide graduate and undergraduate scholarship awards for accounting students enrolled in the College.  Applicants must have a 3.5 overall GPA and a 3.6 GPA in Accounting. 

Award:  $2500 (up to 4 will be awarded)

Laura and Mark Hawkins MBA Scholarship

The Laura and Mark Hawkins MBA Scholarship Fund is awarded to graduate students in the College of Business MBA program who demonstrate academic promise with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher. To qualify, students must also demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 1st.

Applicants will be notified of scholarship results in May.

Award:  $2,500

McHugh Family Endowed Scholarship

Robert and Ruth McHugh have been engaged in business endeavors in the Pikes Peak region and have a fundamental belief that an accounting and/or finance degree can open up a world of opportunities for personal and business success. The McHugh Family Endowment Scholarship is awarded to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Business with majors in accounting or finance fields. Students must have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 and in their sophomore years or higher. Preference will be given to students with financial need and/or veteran status.

Award:   $2,000

Morris Slobodow Memorial Scholarship

The Morris Slobodow Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Business and Administration who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Priority consideration will be given to students who meet one or more of the following criteria: first-generation immigrant, demonstrate financial need or employed at least part-time. Students must demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 1st.

Lind Scholarship

The Lind Scholarship is a need-based award for continuing full-time graduate students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Eligible students must demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) no later than March 1st.

Award:  $1,000

UCCS Graduate Scholarship Fund

The UCCS Graduate Scholarship Fund is a need-based scholarship for first-generation, graduate students who have a 3.5 GPA or higher. Five $2,000 scholarships will be given. To qualify, students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA by March 1st, and enroll full-time.

UCCS Tuition Grant (Financial Aid): 

Awarded to full-time graduate students who fall within an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) range of 0-4600. To be considered, you must apply with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st. Awards are up to $4,000 per year. UCCS's school code is 004509.

Travel Awards for GSA Members

These are allocated to help offset travel expenses for graduate students that travel to conferences that will further their research efforts, and the research efforts of the University. It can also be used for students who wish to travel to trainings and workshops that will contribute to their professional development. Only currently enrolled graduate students in degree-seeking programs who are members of the Graduate Student Association are eligible to apply.  ($400/student; 40-50 given yearly)
