Business organizations need leaders at all levels to understand ethics and compliance. “Ethics and compliance isn’t just left to the lawyers—it’s everyone’s responsibility” (LRN 2020).:The top five ethics and compliance risks include: conflicts of interest, data privacy, cybersecurity, hostile work environment, and bribery and corruption.
The ethics and compliance function is inherently interdisciplinary, demanding a variety of knowledge, expertise, and personality traits to implement a successful ethics program in an organization. The function requires both generalists and specialists to create a well-rounded staff.
