Harrison Hunter, MBA (2018)

Harrison Hunter, MBA '18

"I knew that completing my MBA at UCCS would give me the tools I need to be successful in business."

  • What is your background?

I played college football for my undergrad at CU Boulder. I later moved to CSU-Pueblo where I started my master’s and won a D-II National Championship. Soon after, I moved back to Colorado Springs, finished my MBA at UCCS, and started an internship at Northwestern Mutual which has since evolved into a full-time career.

  • What were the factors that led you to pursuing the UCCS MBA?

I am a person that likes to finish what they have started. When I went to Pueblo for football, I could have taken some classes that wouldn’t have mattered. Instead I thought, if I am going to be here, I want to take advantage my situation by starting my MBA. Also, I knew that by completing my MBA at UCCS, I would receive the tools I need to be successful in business. As I continue to work on building my practice at Northwestern Mutual, a lot of the tools I learned are directly applicable.

  • How would you describe your experience as a student in the MBA program?

I would describe my experience as being both fulfilling and challenging. It has been one of my most favorite accomplishments yet. The program at UCCS was amazing, largely due to the people, both of my professors, and my fellow MBA candidates.

  • What would you tell other professionals if they asked you about pursuing an MBA?

I would tell them that it’s worth it. Although it’s not easy and sometimes you feel like giving up would be easier, you must commit to getting through it.  When you get to the end it will be all worth it. You will learn more about yourself and how you can overcome obstacles in your path.
